Eliot's title these days is Distinguished Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences. Indiana University has run out of honors to award to him but, sadly, has not given him a fancy hat. He had to borrow this one.
2017 has been a sabbatical year for Eliot - a full year on half-pay - so we've done more traveling than we usually do because he hasn't had classes to tend. The sabbatical has given him time to hand off his journal editorship, work on a couple of substantial projects, and spend time with colleagues at the University of California at Santa Barbara and at the University of Wisconsin.
2018 promises four - FOUR! - graduate students finishing their theses; the appropriate hat for next year's work might be a miner's helmet with attached light.
